It crosses the Golden Gate which is San Francisco Bay opening onto the Pacific Ocean and is connected to Marin country.

A welll known symbol of California and San Francicso is this great bridge.

It carries 6 lanes of pedestrians and bicycles. Even heavy trucks, buses and trains pass through the  bridge.

While many experts felt hard to construct a bridge against fierce winds and dimming fog an engineer who came forward was Joseph Strauss .He was chief engineer responsible for the overall design and construction. Later many other experts like Irving Morrow planned the overall configuration of bridge towers, streetlights, lighting scheme ,walkways and Charles Alton Ellis exercised theoretical and technical work that built the bridge , Leon Moisseiff proposed suspension cables.

The construction of bridge was completed in a decade. The bridge was opened on  27 May 1937. The bridge is painted in international orange colour so that it is visible in fog.

Golden Gate Park located in California, San Francisco is a prominent urban park(1017 acres) in a shape similar to rectangle with 13 million visitors every year.
