Ancient Egyptians have found technique of preserving the dead bodies for thousands of years long ago.Though one can find many places to visit in the Egypt country “the Pyramids of Egypt” are always of great significance.

It is believed that nearly 150 pyramids are found outskirts of Cairo in the sand deserts , the capital of Egypt but mostly known to Egyptians.In the ancient times when the country was ruled by different kings there was a procedure to bury them after their death.The dead bodies were buried in such a way that they are preserved for years and this technique is known as mummification as the dead bodies are known as mummies.

The pyramids are actually  tombs built for the kings and provided employments for the people in those days.A period of two to three months was taken to construct a single structure.Initially these constructed like benches later the pyramid structure was used.Special boxes were made to preserve the mummies.The exterior of these boxes was carved and with drawings of the dead person.The most valuable things like ornaments, gems,diamonds etc were also stored.For this reason most of them were ruined to steal the precious things.

Among the pyramids the “Great Pyramid of Giza” is best known for its splendid architecture.It known by other names like Khufu Pyramid or Pyramid of Cheops.It is in the line of the wonderful wonders of the world. This was a tomb built for the king Khufu and thus named.It comprises of three chambers.King’s chamber,queen’s chamber and an incomplete chamber. It is vast in size and great in height constructed thousands of years ago in 2700 to 2500 B.C.the structure has way inside to ascend and descend.The other pyramids next in importance to khufu pyramid are Khafre and Menkaure pyramids.

The other sites where major pyramids were built near and around Giza are Abu Rawash, Zawyet, el-Aryan, Abu Sir, Saqqara, Dashur, Mazghuna, Lisht,Medium and el-Lahun.Each of these sites comprises the tombs of the kings who reigned at different times.

The construction methods employed are extremely marvelous.One must visit this site attracting millions of visitors to know the artistic skills of Egyptians.
