A royal palace, Neuschwanstein castle is situated on rugged hill in Bavaria state of Germany. It is one of the prominent and most photographic building of Germany . The landscape that surrounds this charming castle with gardens and mountains is beautiful.
The castle was built by fairytale “king Ludwig II” in the honour of renowned composer “Richard Wagner”. New Hohenschwangau Castle was the original name and later renamed after Ludwig’s death. Literally the word Neushwanstein means New Swan Stone one of the characters of Wagner’s “the Swan Knight”.
The chief designers of this palace were Christian Jank,Eduard Riedel and George Dollmann responsible for the extremely wonderful interior and exterior architecture. The construction began in 1869 and finished in 1892.Many rooms in the castle represents Wagner’s characters.
The entire palace is built of limestone slabs with supporting brick walls.The marvelous interior designing includes decorations of wooden work in bed room, singers hall in entire fourth floor, fantastic throne room, pleasant paintings in gallery, amazing chandeliers throughout the palace, modernized water supply system, highly facilitated kitchen representing the royalty makes the visitors admire the people involved in this tremendous art work built for a single person the king.
Another interesting point about this is that the King resided only 11 nights in this palace and Wagner never visited as he passed away before its completion. But remained as a gift for all of us as worth seeing site.
